Stockton Downs Delaware Valley 55-38

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-8, 1-6 NJAC) snapped a brief two-game losing skid with a 55-38 victory over Delaware Valley University (1-12) in a non-conference tilt on Monday night. Kiley Gelston (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) led the Ospreys with 11 points and Stockton's bench tallied 33 points on the night.

The Aggies jumped out to an early 6-2 lead with 6:42 left in the first quarter before Stockton ran away from the visitors. A 12-0 run, highlighted by three-pointers from Hailee Porricelli (Howell/Freehold Twp.) and Chyna Wooten (Philadelphia, PA/Imhotep Charter) led the spurt. Stockton finished the first frame up by a 16-7 margin and never trailed again.

The squads played to a 12-12 stalemate during the second period, allowing the Ospreys to maintain a 28-19 advantage going into the break. Gelston scored six points and grabbed five rebounds, with Wooten tallying all seven of her points on the night during the first 20 minutes of play.

Delaware Valley cut into the lead in the third quarter, slicing the margin to 30-23 and forcing Stockton into a timeout. The Ospreys righted the ship and extended the margin to 42-31 after three periods of play, with Gelston scoring five more points and Lajerah Wright (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) adding four markers during the quarter.

Stockton never let up in the final period, outscoring the Aggies 13-7 and coming away with the 55-38 victory.

In addition to Gelston, Wright chipped in with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Freshman Ionyonia Alves (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) grabbed eight boards, including five on the offensive glass. Emily Donzanti (Toms River/Toms River South) topped all players with four assists and four steals. Stockton held the Aggies to just 21.5% (14-65) shooting on the night and forced 19 turnovers.

The Aggies were led by Lauren Moretti with a game-high 18 points while teammate Emily Kutskel led all players with 12 rebounds.
