Staten Island, N.Y. – Stockton University finished third out of 11 men's teams with 115.50 points and third out of 11 women's teams with 96 points in the NJAC Championships at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Monday night. The Ospreys won three men's events and three women's events for a total of six victories at the conference meet.
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) won the men's pole vault for the third straight year (4.40m) and
Edward Dennerlein (Chatham/Chatham) won the men's shot put for the second time in his career (15.61m).
Hunter Daly (Florence/Florence) earned his first NJAC indoor win in the high jump with a personal best (2.00m).
After finishing as the NJAC indoor runner-up the last two years,
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret) won the women's triple jump for the first time (11.61m).
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) won the pole vault for the first time with a personal best (3.50m).
The quartet of
Kristy Goff (Brigantine/Holy Spirit),
Amanda Logie (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood) plus a pair of freshmen
Lauren Maldonado (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) and
Taylor Mulch (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) won the distance medley relay (13:06.75).
Dennerlein led a one-two-three effort in the shot put, followed by
Tom Strychowski (Lanoka Harbor/Lacey Twp.) in second place (14.47m) and
James Flasser (South Plainfield/South Plainfield) in third (14.42m). The Ospreys went one-two in the pole vault, with
Matthew Carter (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) finishing as the runner-up (4.25m) to Holland.
Darren Wan (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) placed second in the weight throw (16.92m) while
Kyle Navalance (Toms River/TR North) finished third in the 5000m (15:38.98) and freshman
Jared Conte (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) was third in the 200m (22.96 seconds).
For the Stockton women's team,
Jy'Asia Bivins (Toms River/TR South) finished second in the long jump (5.37m) and
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca) placed third in the high jump (1.65m).
Stockton's strong relay performances continued with third place in the 4x200 (1:53.26) and 4x800 (10:12.42). Mulch and Goff were joined by
Jesse DeLello (Warren/Watchung Hills) and
Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) in the 4x800.
In addition to her pole vault win, Harvey ran a leg of the 4x200 along with
Jenna Walker (Barnegat/Barnegat),
Funmilayo Aka-Bashorun (Lawrenceville/Lawrence) and freshman
Kaylee Apple (West Long Branch/St. Rose).
Stockton will return to Ocean Breeze on Friday for the Fastrack Last Chance Invitational. The meet starts at 4 p.m.
