Galloway, N.J. – Two Stockton University track & field student-athletes received ECAC monthly awards for January.
Edward Dennerlein (Chatham/Chatham) was chosen
ECAC Metro Field Athlete of the Month for the second straight month.
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret) was selected
ECAC Metro Field Athlete of the Month for the first time.
Dennerlein uncorked the fifth-best shot put in NCAA Division III this season, a personal record of 16.95 meters, at the Gotham Cup on January 17. He also notched a personal best of 15.59 meters in the weight throw at the same meet.
Dennerlein went on to record victories in the shot put at the Franklin & Marshall Coach I Open and TCNJ Dual Meet the following two weeks with distances of 16.44 meters and 16.53 meters respectively. The senior also placed second in the weight throw at both meets. Dennerlein was named NJAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week twice during January.
McRae earned a pair of wins in the TCNJ Dual Meet on January 31, capturing the triple jump at 11.51 meters and long jump at 5.27 meters. The victories were her second of the year in the triple jump and first-ever in the long jump.
McRae also finished third in the triple jump at the Gotham Cup with a distance of 11.57 meters that broke her own indoor school record by five centimeters and put her seventh in the nation. The senior was chosen NJAC Women's Field Athlete of the Month twice for her performances during January.
