Galloway, N.J. – Two Stockton University student-athletes received weekly awards from their conferences for February 24-March 1.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) was chosen NJAC Rookie of the Week in men's basketball for the eighth time.
Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) was named the inaugural CSAC Player of the Week for the 2020 men's lacrosse season.
Campbell averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the floor (9-19), 50 percent from three-point range (3-6) and 80 percent at the line (8-10) in Stockton's two NJAC Tournament games. Campbell scored a team-high 18 points in the 96-82 victory over Rowan University in the semifinals and then 11 points in the championship game at The College of New Jersey.
Campbell topped the Ospreys in three-pointers (53) and free throw percentage (.859, 61-71) and finished second on the team in scoring (1.21 ppg) and steals (1.4 spg) during his outstanding freshman year. Campbell was voted NJAC Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Stockton player to win the award since 1988 (Mike Menefee).
Poli sparked the Stockton men's lacrosse team to a 4-0 start to the season with 14 goals and seven assists for 21 points. The sophomore, who was chosen CSAC Rookie of the Year in 2019, leads the team in goals, points and caused turnovers (8). Poli has a team-high for man-up goals and 14 ground balls as well.
Poli scored four goals apiece in victories over McDaniel and Messiah, adding three assists for a season-high seven points against Messiah on February 26. He has netted at least three goals in each game thus far.
