Stockton Pounds St. Elizabeth 13-4

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (7-3) pounded out 18 hits, including six for extra bases, and rolled to a 13-4 victory over College of St. Elizabeth (2-8). Nick Trifiletti (Linwood/Mainland) led the way, going 3-5 with a home run, four RBI and three runs.

John Perrino (Wall/Wall) went 3-5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI while Ryan Mihlebach (Clarskboro/GCIT) was 3-3 with a double and an RBI. Evan Geisler (Lodi/Lodi) contributed two hits, three RBI and two runs for the Ospreys.

St. Elizabeth got on the board with a run in the top of the second but Stockton answered quickly as Trifiletti slugged a two-run homer to left center in the bottom half. Trifiletti's second long ball of the season put the Ospreys on top 2-1.

Stockton broke the game open with five runs in the third frame for a 7-1 advantage. Rico Viani (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) drove in the first two tallies with a single. Geisler earned an RBI on a groundout and Trifiletti followed with an RBI single. A sacrifice fly by Garrett DeMarrais (Oradell/River Dell) produced the final score of the inning.

The Ospreys tacked on three more runs in the fourth stanza on RBI doubles by Geisler and Mihlebach plus an RBI single by Trifiletti for a 10-1 lead. In the fifth inning, an RBI double by Perrino and RBI single by Geisler that scored Perrino made it 12-1. Perrino added another RBI single in the seventh inning for the last Stockton run in the 13-4 triumph.

Three Osprey pitchers held the Eagles to just four hits. Freshman Brandon Drapeau (Sparta/Sparta) earned his first career victory by allowing just one run on two hits with three strikeouts in the first five innings.

Fellow rookie Jeremy Ruka (Cranford/Cranford) yielded an unearned run on one hit in two innings of work. Joslin Carino (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) tossed the last two frames in his first appearance of the season.

Stockton will play its fifth home game in four days tomorrow when the Ospreys host Eastern University at 3 p.m.
