Atlantic City, N.J. – Stockton University kicked off the 2021-22 season by hosting Division I squad Lehigh University in the AC Stakes Race on the Intracoastal Waterway. The Ospreys enter the new year looking to build off their most successful season ever in Spring 2021.
Last spring saw Stockton post its best finish ever at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships with second place and win the program's first-ever gold medal in an eight race at the Dad Vail Regatta. The Ospreys finished the season with their highest ranking ever, 14th in the Pocock/CRCA national poll.
Stockton faced a difficult task in the opener, taking on the Division I Mountain Hawks in a pair of women's races.
In today's varsity four, Stockton A finished second out of seven with a time of 19:01 for 4,000 meters that trailed only Lehigh A with a time of 17:53. The Osprey lineup was

Emily Culmone with coxswain
Lorelei Hendricks.
The Stockton B (20:17), C (20:49) and D (21:19) entries finished fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
In the varsity eight, Stockton A placed third out of five with a time of 18:14 that trailed Lehigh A (16:36) and Lehigh B (17:08). In her Stockton debut, freshman
Lydia Pool was the coxswain for the Stockton A varsity eight.
Pope, DelRoss, Alpin and Culmone were joined by
Emily Latshaw,
Madelynn Schina,
Nicole Iatarola and
Anna Bailey to comprise the Stockton A lineup in the varsity eight.
Stockton B finished fifth in the race with a time of 19:36.
In addition to the racing, the Stockton rowing program dedicated three new boats during the event, the "Rows Ann Cahill", the "Coach Bob Garbutt" and the "Peterson Family".
Stockton will be back in action again in two weeks, rowing against Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia on October 16 in the second of four events scheduled for the Ospreys this fall.
