Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (9-9-2) entered the NJAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed but was eliminated by No. 4 seed Rowan University (11-3-1) by a 1-0 count in the first round. The defeat ended the 2021 season for the Ospreys.
Stockton held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks while Rowan had a slim 5-4 edge in shots on goal and 16-11 in shot attempts overall.
Dante Montesinos (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) topped the Ospreys with four shots, including three on goal.
Rowan outshot Stockton 11-3 in the first half and Wilby Alfred scored the game's only goal with seven minutes remaining in the period. Stockton upped the offense with eight shots in the second half, but only one was on goal and it was stopped by Rowan keeper James Weinberg. The Ospreys also generated five corner kicks in the second half.
Senior goalkeeper
Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) made four saves in his final college game. Gromitsaris finished his career with 17 shutouts, which ranks fifth in the 48-year history of Stockton Men's Soccer.
Stockton ended the year with a .500 record (9-9-2) that included three losses to teams currently ranked in the top 15 in the nation by the United Soccer Coaches (#5 Montclair State, #9 Cortland, #15 NYU).
