Chester, Pa. – Stockton University (2-0) dealt Neumann University (3-1) its first loss of the season, 91-62, and won the Widener Tip-Off Tournament. The Ospreys raced out to a 24-5 lead and rolled to the 29-point victory.
Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) was chosen tournament MVP after leading four from Stockton in double figures with a career-high 25 points. Lubano went 5-10 (50%) from three-point range and also led all players with four steals.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) tossed in 23 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds on the way to an All-Tournament Team spot. Campbell also contributed three assists and three steals to his stat line.
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) shot a blistering 5-6 from the floor (83.3%), finishing with 14 points and a game-high four assists.
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) also reached double digits with 11 markers.
Flanders drained two early three-pointers to spark the Ospreys to an 11-4 lead in the opening four minutes. Campbell then scored five points to spur a 13-1 onslaught that upped the advantage to an insurmountable 24-5. A Campbell trey with 1:50 left in the half gave Stockton its largest lead of the period at 49-26.
Campbell (18), Lubrano (14) and Flanders (11) combined for 43 of Stockton's 52 first-half points. The Ospreys shot 55.9 percent (19-34) from the field and sank 10 three-pointers on the way to a 52-30 lead.
The margin never dipped below 20 points during a second half in which 17 Stockton players saw action. Lubrano and Dawkins scored 11 and 10 counters respectively in the period as the Ospreys cruised to the 91-62 triumph.
Jalen Vaughns was the lone Neumann player in double digits with 18 points.
Stockton will be on the road again on Wednesday for a matchup at Salisbury University that tips off at 7 p.m.
