Rochester, N.Y. – Stockton University (5-1, 1-0 NJAC) unleashed a three-point shooting barrage in the first half that led to a 77-39 win over Elmira College (1-6) in the consolation game of the Holiday Inn Rochester Tournament at the University of Rochester.
The Ospreys shot 10-16 (62.5%) from beyond the arc in building a commanding 40-14 first half lead.
Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) scored a game-high 21 points, his third time over 20 in six contests.
Lubrano shot a blistering 7-9 (77.8%) from three-point land, and he later was selected to the All-Tournament Team after scoring 35 points in the two games (17.5 ppg).
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) went a perfect 4-4 from three and finished with 16 points. Campbell and Lubrano topped Stockton with eight rebounds apiece while Campbell also dealt a game-high five assists and tallied three steals.
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) played an efficient 20 minutes with five points on 2-3 shooting plus four assists, two rebounds, two steals and a block.
Lubrano hit three three-pointers in the first 3:09 to get the Ospreys off to a fast 9-2 start. The senior nailed two more treys and Campbell and
Nick Duncsak (Toms River/TR North) netted five points apiece as the lead ballooned to 27-6 with 12 minutes gone.
Stockton continued pulling away, led by a pair of three-pointers by Campbell, on the way to a 40-14 lead at the half. The Ospreys shot 62.5 percent (10-16) from three and 10 of their 14 field goals came from beyond the arc in the first half. Elmira hit just 6-28 (21.4%) from the field and committed 13 turnovers in the period.
Campbell opened the second-half scoring with another three-pointer and the rout continued, with Stockton leading by as much as 46 points. The Osprey bench got into the act, led by
Jordan Heck (Shamong/Pemberton) with seven markers in the second half.
Overall, 13 Ospreys played at least six minutes and 10 scored as Stockton cruised to the 77-39 triumph in a strong bounce back after the team's first defeat of the season a day earlier.
Jeff Jung, Jr. was the lone Elmira player in double figures with 10 points plus a team-high seven rebounds.
Stockton returns to New Jersey for a pair of NJAC road games next week, starting with a matchup at Rowan University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
