Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) was selected
NJAC Rookie of the Week in women's basketball for November 22-28. LaRosa received the award for the second consecutive week.
The freshman scored a team-high 20 points, reaching the 20-point plateau for the third straight game and fourth in the last five, to lead Stockton to a 53-47 win over Rutgers-Camden on November 23 in the only game for the Ospreys last week. LaRosa shot 6-7 (85.7%) at the line and added three rebounds, three steals and an assist in the victory.
LaRosa has gotten off to a tremendous start, averaging 17.8 points per game, which leads Stockton and ranks sixth in the NJAC. She is second in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.333), third in three-pointers (2.7/game) and eighth in free throw percentage (.792) while also topping the Ospreys in all three categories.
LaRosa has started all six games of her freshman season thus far. The rookie guard has scored in double digits in five of the six contests, highlighted by a career-high 24 points versus Eastern University on November 17. In addition to the scoring totals, LaRosa is averaging 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
Stockton is even at 3-3 overall (1-0 NJAC) during the first six games of the season. The Ospreys will face a couple of tough NJAC road matchups this week as they travel to Rowan University on Wednesday and then Ramapo for a Saturday afternoon tilt.
