Staten Island, N.Y. – Stockton University returned to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the second straight week as the Ospreys competed in the Seahawk Shootout. Stockton was one of a handful of NCAA Division III team competing against primarily Division I plus a few Division II squads.
Stockton had most of its best results in the field events.
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) finished third out of 18 in the pole vault (3.55m) while
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca) placed fourth out of 15 in the high jump (1.60m).
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) tied for sixth in the pole vault (3.25m) and freshman
Kaitlyn Vervier (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) was sixth out of 15 in the high jump with a personal best (1.55m). Preston, Harvey, Foley and Vervier were topped only by Division I competitors from Penn, Monmouth and NJIT.
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) finished sixth out of 17 in the pole vault (4.40m) to lead the Osprey men.
Ian Santiago (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) placed ninth out of 22 in the triple jump (12.51m) and
Ruben Rojas (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) was ninth out of 21 in the weight throw with a personal best (12.15m).
Freshman
Carson Latham (Bordentown/Bordentown) placed 12th in a huge field of 64 sprinters in the 60m dash (7.17 seconds). Holland, Santiago, Rojas and Latham all were the top Division III finishers in their respective events.
Harvey, Holland, Preston and Foley all qualified for the AARTFC Championships.
After competing at Ocean Breeze on two straight Fridays, Stockton is finished until after the holidays. The Ospreys will be off until January 21 when they return to Ocean Breeze for the Gotham Cup beginning at 2 p.m.
