Galloway, N.J. – A pair of Stockton University pole vaulters were selected NJAC Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 12. Seniors
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) and
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) were recognized in men's and women's track & field respectively for their performances at the Seahawk Shootout on December 10.
Holland had a vault of 4.40 meters, placing sixth put of 17 competitors in the pole vault. The senior, a six-time NJAC champion in the pole vault (4 outdoor, 2 indoor), was topped by three competitors from Penn and a pair from Monmouth, both Division I schools.
By clearing 4.40 meters, Holland qualified for the AARTFC Championships in March. He currently holds the number one spot in the NJAC and is tied for 16th in NCAA Division III in the pole vault.
Competing for the first time this season, Preston vaulted 3.55 meters to finish third out of 18 entrants. She was the top Division III athlete in the event, beaten only by a pair of vaulters from Division I Penn. Preston qualified for the AARTFC Championships with the performance.
A 2021 All-American in the outdoor pole vault, Preston is now tied for sixth in NCAA Division III and has the top spot in the NJAC thus far this season.
After competing twice this month, the Stockton men's and women's track & field teams will be on hiatus until the spring semester, competing next in the Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island on January 21.
