Mahwah, NJ – Stockton University (7-1, 3-0 NJAC) shook off a slow start, and rallied past Ramapo College (1-5, 0-3 NJAC) by a 69-66 score on Saturday afternoon.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) led three Ospreys in double figures with a game-high 18 points.

Stockton struggled from the field during the first half, shooting just 9-31 (29.0%) en route to 29 first half points, tying their lowest output in a half this season. The visitors defense kept them in the contest as Ramapo controlled the pace and led 32-29 at the break. The Roadrunners held a 32-22 advantage with 3:25 left in the opening stanza, before the Ospreys closed the gap.

A pair of free throws by
Jonathan Azoroh (Ewing/Ewing) and five points by
Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) sliced the margin to three at the half in favor of Ramapo.

The Ospreys shot better in the final stanza, hitting on 10-24 (41.7%), taking a 45-42 lead at the 12:32 mark on an Azoroh three-point play. The squads battled for every basket over the next nine minutes before Stockton was able to take the lead for good at the 6:14 mark. The Roadrunners held a 57-56 lead, but
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) hit a pair of foul shots and a three ball to give Stockton a 63-57 lead.

The home squad closed to within one point at 65-64 but
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) scored a layup to offset a basket by Ramapo with 6.3 seconds left in regulation. Campbell then sealed the game with two from the charity stripe in the 69-66 victory.

In addition to Campbell, Lubrano scored 17 points and tied Campbell and Azoroh with six rebounds each. Flanders chipped in with 13 markers, while Dawkins led all players with seven assists.

Ramapo was topped by Peter Gorman with 16 points, with teammate Marquise Kindel grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Shane Rooney led all players with five steals for the Roadrunners.

Stockton will return home for their next contest as the Ospreys will face The College of New Jersey on Wednesday night. Tip off is scheduled for 8 pm.
