Results
Staten Island, N.Y. – Stockton University began the 2021-22 indoor season by competing in the Fastrack Season Opener at Ocean Breeze Atlantic Complex. Competing against teams from all three NCAA divisions, the Ospreys registered 15 top-eight finishes, eight women's and seven men's, including strong outings from several newcomers.
Freshman
Ashanae Morrison (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) made an impressive college debut as she placed second out of 22 runners in the 60m dash (8.27 seconds) and third out of 17 in the triple jump (10.78m). Morrison qualified for the AATRFC Championships in the triple jump.
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) finished as the top college performer and second overall in the pole vault (3.35m). Harvey was topped only by unattached vaulter Kaitlyn Dermen, who was a 2018 All-American while competing for Stockton.
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca) tied for third in a field of 13 in the high jump (1.55m).
Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) finished sixth out of 28 in the mile (5:33.02) and teammate
Marlee Tharp (Tuckerton/Pinelands), a freshman, was eighth (5:34.92) in her first college meet.
Abigail Webb (Blackwood/Highland), another rookie, placed sixth out of 31 runners in the 800m (2:26.76). Sophomore
Kierstin Clem (Voorhees/Eastern), who was competing in her first college indoor meet because last season was canceled due to COVID, finished eighth out of 22 in the 3000m (11:02.34).
Three Stockton men posted high finishes in the pole vault, led by runner-up
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) at 4.25m.
Matthew Carter (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) and
Joseph Morales (Toms River/TR North), another sophomore competing in his first college indoor meet, tied for fourth (4.10m).
Freshman
Dontay Turner (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) placed fourth out of 32 sprinters in the 60m dash (7.35 seconds) and sophomore newcomer
Donnie Scott (Westville/Deptford) was eighth (7.44 seconds).
Freshman
Erik Ackerman (Long Valley/West Morris Central) finished seventh out 31 runners in the 3000m 8:34.04) and
Brandon Shymanski (Brick/Brick Memorial) was seventh out 20 in the 5000m (16:23.02).
Competing in the 60m Dash Invite against tougher competition, freshman
Carson Latham (Bordentown/Bordentown) qualified for the AARTFC Championships (7.10 seconds).
Stockton will return to Ocean Breeze on Friday, December 10 for the Wagner College Shootout beginning at 2 p.m.
