Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-2, 1-2 NJAC) earned their first win of the season with a solid 85-73 win over New Jersey City (2-1, 2-1 NJAC) on Friday night.
Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) led five Ospreys in double figures with a career-high 23 points on the night.

Stockton forged a 33-28 lead after the first half with no advantage being more than seven points between the squads. The Gothic Knights held a slim 25-24 lead with 3:56 remaining in the frame before the Ospreys put on a surge.

Four markers from
Rynell Lawrence (Millville/Millville), a three-ball from
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) and a
Nick Duncsak (Toms River/Toms River North) bucket gave Stockton the five-point margin at the break.

The second stanza saw a repeat of the opening half, with the teams battling for every point. Stockton opened up a 41-32 advantage but the Gothic Knights jumped ahead by posting a 20-9 run to take the lead at 52-50 at the 10:19 mark.
Lubrano and the Ospreys then exploded for 16 unanswered points in a three-minute span. Lubrano and Campbell both hit three-pointers during the spurt, forcing the visitors into a timeout down 66-52.

Stockton extended the margin to 81-60 with a little over three minutes remaining in the contest. Lubrano hit another pair of three balls, with Duncsak hitting one as well. Lawrence capped off the advantage with four more markers. The teams then cleared the benches as Stockton finished out the 85-73 victory.

Lubrano added four steals and four assists in the game in which he shot 7-11 from behind the arc, including 6-8 in the second half. Lawrence and Duncsak both added 14 points, with Duncsak posting a new career best. Lawrence pulled down seven boards and dealt four assists, tying his career highs in both categories.

Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) and Campbell rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 and 11 points respectively. The Ospreys dished 18 assists on their 30 baskets on the night and forced 10 turnovers that led to 22 points on defense.

NJCU was led by Derryen White with 22 points, while teammate Denzel Banks added 12 markers.

Stockton will finish the home and home series tomorrow, traveling to Jersey City to face NJCU again. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
