Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-0, 1-0 NJAC) opened their defense of the NJAC title with a 3-1 win over visiting Montclair State (0-1, 0-1 NJAC) on Tuesday evening. The scores were 25-21, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-14 as Stockton took the court for the first time in 472 days due to Covid-19.

Christie Louer (Clifton/Clifton) had 13 kills and 13 digs while
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) also posted a double-double with a match-high 40 assists and 13 digs.

The Ospreys started strong, battling for a first set win of 25-21. Louer had four kills while
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) spiked five of her match-high 16 kills on the night. The Red Hawks took the second set 25-23 before the Ospreys took control of the final two frames.
Stockton opened up a 16-6 lead in the third set and stayed in front by at least seven the rest of the way to take control of the match, 25-15. In the fourth frame, three early kills by Leon sparked the Ospreys toa 7-2 lead and they easily closed out the match 25-14.

Stockton had an outstanding hitting percentage of .520 during the third stanza as Louer, Leon and
Haley Green (Springville, UT/Maple Mountain) had four spikes each. The balance was evident during the final set as Leon had four kills while
Franceska Gustave (Edgewater, NJ/Leonia),
Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, NY/West Islip) and Louer added three kills each.

Leon spiked 16 kills while Green contributed 11 kills to the team total. Gustave led all players with four blocks while Kohlhoff, Leon and Sullivan snuffed a pair of attacks each. Sullivan also served a team-high three aces.

For the Red Hawks, Leah Higgins had 12 kills and two blocks. Teammate Delaney St. Pierre dished 22 assists while Maddie Valko scooped a match-high 20 digs.

The Ospreys will travel to Camden, NJ for their next match as the Ospreys will face Rutgers-Camden on Thursday night. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
