Galloway, N.J. – The Stockton University men's cross country team collected two NJAC postseason awards while five runners apiece from the men's and women's squads earned all-conference honors for the brief Spring 2021 campaign.
Cooper Knorr (Manalapan/Manalapan) was chosen NJAC Runner of the Year while men's coach
Jayson Resch was voted NJAC Co-Coach of the Year.
Knorr won the men's 8K race at the NJAC Championships on Saturday with a time of 25:33.2 to become the second NJAC individual cross country champ in school history (Abad Akhtar, 2010). In addition to the NJAC Runner of the Year award, Knorr also garnered his first career all-conference nod with an NJAC First Team spot.
Resch, in his ninth year as the head men's cross country coach, helmed the Ospreys to a runner-up finish at the NJAC Championships. Stockton nearly won its first conference title but was edged by one point, 29-30, by The College of New Jersey. TCNJ mentor Justin Lindsey was tabbed NJAC Co-Coach of the Year along with Resch.
The NJAC all-conference teams are based on individual finish at the NJAC Championships.
Daniel Do (Galloway/Absegami) qualified for the NJAC First Team for the third time by finishing as the runner-up to Knorr in the men's race. Knorr and Do were joined on the NJAC First Team by
Kyle Navalance (Toms River/TR North), who placed fourth.
Stephen Conte (Washington Twp./Paul VI) and
Christopher Shaw (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) finished 11th and 12th respectively in the 39-runner field to grab NJAC Second Team honors. Navalance, Conte and Shaw all earned NJAC all-conference recognition for the first time.
Five runners from the Stockton women's team collected NJAC all-conference acknowledgement for the first time, led by
Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) who finished third out of 36 runners in the NJAC Championships on Saturday. Freshman
Kierstin Clem (Voorhees/Eastern) placed seventh and joined Klenk on the NJAC First Team.
Olivia Harris (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake),
Jamie Wun (Moorestown/Moorestown) and freshman
Madeline Corbett (Linwood/Mainland) qualified for the NJAC Second Team by finishing eighth, 11th and 16th respectively in the women's 6K race. The quintet of all-conference honorees led Stockton to a runner-up finish behind TCNJ at the conference meet.
