Galloway, N.J. – Five players from the Stockton University field hockey team were recognized as
NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The requirement for this recognition is a cumulative grade-point average of 3.90 or higher through the Fall 2020 semester.
Senior
Issy Gilhooley (Ocean City/Ocean City) and junior
Kelsey Andrus (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) earned the academic honor for the third straight year. Junior
Lainie Allegretto (Ocean City/Ocean City) qualified for a spot on the list for the second year in a row.
Senior
Lauryn Flynn (Warren Grove/Southern Regional) and freshman
Kylie Mitchell (Shamong/Seneca) each achieved NFHCA Scholar of Distinction status for the first time. Stockton's five Scholars of Distinction headlined a list of 13 Ospreys who attained recognition on the NFHCA National Academic Squad, which was announced last week.
Stockton has played one game thus far this spring, a 2-1 setback at Kean University on March 12. Allegretto, Flynn, Gilhooley and Mitchell all started the contest, with Andrus seeing action off the bench. Gilhooley registered one shot while Mitchell, a goaltender, made 14 saves in her college debut. The Ospreys will play at Kean again tonight at 7:30 p.m.
