Stockton Advances to NJAC Semifinals, 67-45

Newark, N.J. – Stockton University (4-3) showed little rust in its first game in two weeks as the Ospreys shot 47.6% (10-21) from three-point range and defeated Rutgers-Newark (2-3) 67-45 in the quarterfinals of the NJAC Tournament.

Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) continued the hot shooting that has been his trademark throughout the short season, hitting 3-5 from beyond the arc and scoring a game-high 16 points. DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) contributed 15 points and a team-high four assists.

Tariq Baker (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Anthony's) went 3-6 from three-point land and finished with 13 points. Fifteen Ospreys played in the game, with 11 scoring points.

The first half was close until the later stages when Stockton netted the last seven points of the period to open up a 31-23 lead at the break. Campbell and Baker led the Ospreys with eight markers apiece in the period. Campbell also dished three assists in the first half.

Stockton dominated the second half by shooting 51.9 percent (14-27) from the floor including a torrid 6-11 (54.5%) from three-point range. Lubrano went a perfect 3-3 from long range and scored 11 second-half points to lead the Ospreys to a 36-22 scoring advantage in the period.

Lubrano and Campbell sank consecutive three-pointers to boost Stockton's lead to 41-29 with 15:42 on the clock. From there, the Ospreys stayed in front by double digits for all but 21 seconds the rest of the way as they cruised to the 67-45 victory.

Quincy Rutherford paced the home team with 15 points while Dante Ralph posted a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Scarlet Raiders.

Stockton advanced to the NJAC semifinals, where they will play on March 12 against the winner of Sunday's game between No. 1 seed The College of New Jersey and No. 7 seed Kean University.
