Union, NJ – Stockton University (3-4, 1-2 NJAC) was not able to generate any offense, as the Ospreys fell to Kean University (6-6, 1-2 NJAC) by a 4-0 score on Thursday afternoon.
Stockton did not have a runner reach as far as third base until the fifth inning, when
Garrett DeMarrais (Oradell/River Dell) walked and advanced on two ground balls, but was stranded there.
The Ospreys had two runners on in the sixth frame when
Marco Meleo (Freehold/Freehold Boro) was hit by a pitch and
Ryan Swift (Sewell/Washington Twp.) walked. But once again, the Ospreys could not push across a run as Kean ended the threat.
Kean plated their four runs with a single tally in the fourth, two more in the seventh and another in the eighth inning for the win.
Phil DeMarco (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) pitched seven innings scattered eight hits and allowed just two earned runs in taking the loss.
Freshman Nolan Rowan tossed the no-hitter for Kean in the win walking five and striking out five Ospreys.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow when the Ospreys will face Kean in Galloway to finish the home and home series. Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
