Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-2) dropped a thrilling match to Kean University (10-1) in the championship game of the CSAC Tournament by a 14-13 score on Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Cougars the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Tournament that starts next week.

Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) scored eight goals to lead the Ospreys, and in doing so, broke the all-time goal scoring record of 191 goals set by Kevin Logue (1995-98).

Swedlund and
J.J. McKenna (Barnegat/Barnegat) scored in the first 4:30 to give Stockton an early 2-0 lead. Three scores by Kean offset a pair by Swedlund and
Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) but the Ospreys held a slim 4-3 lead after one period of play.

Kean outscored Stockton 6-1 in the second frame to take a 9-5 advantage into the break. The Ospreys answered in the third stanza, scoring six times to knot the contest at 11-11 going into the final quarter.
Eric D'Arminio scored once and assisted on two of Swedlund's three goals in the period. McKenna and
Eric Ellis (Voorhees/Eastern) accounted for the other markers.

Swedlund tallied his record-breaking goal 14 seconds into the fourth quarter to cap a run of five straight tallies by the Ospreys that gave Stockton a 12-11 edge for their first lead since the opening quarter. The Cougars knotted the game 12-12 with 9:13 remaining.
Swedlund put the Ospreys in front from the final time at 13-12 with 3:37 on the clock. Kean's George Capria netted the tying goal with 2:17 remaining and then Anthony Porter scored the championship winner with just 1:05 to play as the Cougars prevailed over Stockton 14-13.

Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern) and
Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) all dished a pair of assists in the game to aid the offense. Freshman
Jared Long (Bound Brook/Bridgewater-Raritan) caused a team-high four turnovers on defense, with Swedlund,
Peter Burke (Shamong/Seneca) and
Justin Werder (Roxbury/Roxbury) scooping three ground balls each.

Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) made four saves in net for the Ospreys.

Kean was led by George Capria with three goals, while Anthony Porter scored twice and had two assists. Goalie Thomas Francy made 13 saves in the victory and was chosen MVP of the CSAC championship game.

The Ospreys finished their season at 7-2 for the eighth consecutive season with a winning record.
