Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (6-2) fell to undefeated The College of New Jersey (10-0) by a 5-0 score in the championship match of the inaugural NJAC Tournament in women's tennis. The Ospreys dropped all three doubles matches and two in singles as the Lions accumulated the necessary five wins.
Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City/Absegami) and
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain/Rye (N.Y.)) put up a fight at No. 1 doubles but were downed 8-5.
Sarb Devi (Galloway/Absegami) and
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) suffered an 8-1 setback at No. 2 doubles.
Freshmen
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) and
Lily Muir (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) also were defeated 8-1 at No. 3 doubles. In singles, van Schalkwyk fell 6-1, 6-0 and
Brenna Samuels (Salem/Salem) dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision.
Once TCNJ reached five match wins and clinched its 38th consecutive NJAC crown, the remaining four singles matches were halted.
Stockton finished with a 6-2 record for its 10th consecutive winning season overall, with the last seven coming under head coach
Harry Silverstein.
