Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University student-athletes
Hunter Daly (Florence/Florence) and
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) earned All-American honors from the
U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2021 outdoor season.
Daly and Preston qualified for All-American credit for the first time in their careers by finishing in the top eight of the men's high jump and women's pole vault respectively at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships last week. Preston finished fifth in her event while Daly tied for eighth in his event.
Preston placed fifth out of 19 entrants by clearing a personal-best height of 3.75 meters on her first attempt. Earlier, the junior got over the bar at 3.45 meters, 3.60 meters and 3.70 meters, each on her second try. She entered the national meet tied for 13th in NCAA Division III and rose to the occasion with a personal best to place fifth.
Preston earned Stockton's 18th All-American honor in women's outdoor track & field overall and eighth in the pole vault, joining Kim Marino (2003-04), Rachel Joseph (2010), Chelsea Vaughan (2014-16) and Kaitlyn Dermen (2018).
Daly cleared a top height of 1.97 meters in to tie for eighth out of 17 competitors. He jumped the opening height of 1.92 meters and then his top effort of 1.97 meters each on his first attempt. Daly was one of five competitors to finish at 1.97 meters, and he landed in a four-way tie for eighth due to a tiebreaker that dropped one entrant down to 12th place.
Daly collected Stockton's 38th All-American award in men's outdoor track & field and third in the high jump following two-time honoree Paul Klemic (2005-06). Earlier this spring, he notched NJAC First Team and USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region accolades while Preston was an NJAC Second Team performer.
