Union, N.J. – Stockton University (6-11, 3-1 NJAC) rebounded after dropping the opening set to win the next three for a 3-1 victory in an NJAC road match at Kean University (5-9, 2-2). The set scores were 17-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-20.
Charlotte Leon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) led three Ospreys in double figures with a match-high 17 kills while
Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) tied her career high with 15 kills.
Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) rounded out the double-digit trio with 13 kills.
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) dished a career-high 46 assists and registered 10 digs.
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) topped Stockton with 14 digs.
After a kill by Leon tied the first set 10-10, Kean outscored the Ospreys 15-7 for a 25-17 final. Capriglione (five) and Leon (four) combined for nine of Stockton's 11 kills in the second set. The Ospreys opened up a 17-12 lead and stayed in front the rest of the way to even the match, 25-21.
The score was tied 12 times in a tight third set, with the final deadlock coming at 25-25. A Kean attack error followed by an ace from Marziello gave the Ospreys a slim 27-25 victory.
Leon and Ullmer paced the offense with seven kills apiece in the fourth frame and Stockton closed with an 8-3 run to seal the match with a 25-20 win.
Stockton returns home to host Hunter College in a non-conference match on Thursday at 7 p.m.
