Gianna Morganti (Berlin/St. Joseph) was selected as the first New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the 2021 field hockey season. Morganti received an NJAC weekly honor for the first time in her career.
Morganti got off to an explosive start, scoring six goals and dishing one assist for 13 points in two games over the weekend. The senior potted a pair of goals and added an assist in an 8-1 rout over Manhattanville on Saturday, then scored a career-high four goals the next day in an 8-0 shutout victory over Drew.
Through the first weekend of the season, Morganti tops the NJAC in goals (6), points (13) and shots (15). She also is tied for the conference lead with 11 shots on goal.
An NJAC First Team honoree last season, Morganti led the team with 11 goals and 25 points in 2019 and has started all 25 games at Stockton after transferring from Rider prior to the 2019 season.
