Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (12-6, 4-1 NJAC) extended its winning streak to five with a 3-1 victory over Kean University (10-8, 4-1 NJAC) in a key conference match. The teams are now tied for second in the NJAC but Stockton owns the tiebreaker after the head-to-head win.
Three Ospreys reached double figures in kills for the balanced Stockton offense.
Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) tied her career high with 13 kills on 22 attacks for a .545 hitting percentage.
Haley Green (Springville, Utah/Maple Mountain) also smacked 13 kills.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) completed the trio with 12 kills.
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) produced a double-double with 24 assists and 13 digs. Fellow setter
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished 19 assists.
Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) tied her career high with nine blocks, including five solo.
Molly Eng (New Providence/New Providence) paced the back row with team highs of 19 digs and three aces.
The first two sets featured a combined 17 ties and 11 lead changes as the momentum swung back and forth. With the first frame tied at 21, the Cougars used a 4-1 spurt to prevail 25-22. Stockton trailed 18-17 in the second set before going on an 8-2 run to even the match 25-20.
The Ospreys took over from there. Sparked by four kills on five attacks from De La Torre and four kills by Louer, Stockton took the third set 25-17. In the fourth stanza,
Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) notched four kills on four attacks and De La Torre smacked four more kills on five attacks as the Ospreys closed out the victory 25-18.
Ashley Smith spiked a match-high 16 kills to lead Kean. Kylie Brua contributed a double-double of 32 assists and 10 digs while Sian Seeger scooped a match-high 25 digs for the Cougars.
Stockton will go on the road on Thursday for an NJAC match at Rutgers-Newark that begins at 7 p.m.
