Stockton Falls to #22 TCNJ 1-0 in NJAC Tournament

Ewing, NJ – Stockton University (8-8-5) fell to #22 The College of New Jersey (14-2-2) 1-0 in the first round of the NJAC Tournament. Freshman Logan Shaw (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) posted two of the three shots on goal for the Ospreys in the contest. The Lions are ranked No. 22 nationally by the United Soccer Coaches.

The Lions struck for the only goal in the first half when Sophie Vieira scored off a cross from Gianna Coppola for the 1-0 lead at 23:11 of the period. The TCNJ defense stifled the Osprey offense, holding an 8-1 margin in shots in the half.

Stockton gathered some life in the second half, firing four shots with three on net but could not break through for the tying goal. Emily Hauck (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and Shaw got off shots that were kicked away within 15 minutes of each other.

Stockton tried one last attempt when Shaw had a shot saved in the 87th minute, then Sophia Drea (Medford/Shawnee) saw her attempt blocked in the final minute as the Lions held on for the one goal victory.

Freshman Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) made four saves as Stockton was eliminated from the NJAC Tournament, ending the season with eight wins.
