Harrisburg, Pa. – Stockton University (2-0) scored the last four points of the game to defeat Penn State Harrisburg (1-1) 72-69 at the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament. The Ospreys, who were playing their second straight game against a 2022 NCAA Tournament team, erased a 10-point halftime deficit.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) scored a game-high 26 points to lead Stockton.
Martin Anguelov (Cape May/Wildwood Catholic) chipped in with 17 points and a team-high four assists. Anguelov shot 6-9 (66.7%) from the field.
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) netted 12 points and tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds. Stockton never led by more than three in the contest.
Campbell scored eight points to spark the Ospreys to a 12-11 edge in the first seven minutes, but Penn State Harrisburg controlled the remainder of the first half. Overall, the hosts shot 50 percent from the floor, outscored Stockton 12-2 at the line and held a 21-13 rebound advantage in the half. As a result, the Ospreys trailed 42-32 at the break.
Stockton chipped away at the deficit in the second half, briefly taking a 48-47 lead on an Anguelov jumper with 12:25 to go. After nine lead changes in the next 11 minutes, Penn State Harrisburg edged in front 69-68 on a basket with 1:04 to play.
On the next possession, Campbell sank a layup with 24 seconds left to put Stockton back on top 70-69. Campbell then blocked a Lions' shot, grabbed the rebound and was fouled with five seconds on the clock. He made both free throws to cap the 72-69 triumph.
Nate Curry topped Penn State Harrisburg with 17 points followed by Isaiah Eggleston with 16 markers.
On Wednesday, Stockton will play its third straight 2022 NCAA Tournament team when the Ospreys visit DeSales University for a matchup that tips off at 8 p.m.
