Galloway, N.J. – Three Stockton University student-athletes were selected for weekly honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) today.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) was chosen NJAC Player of the Week for men's basketball and a pair of freshmen earned track & field nods.
Connor Wright (Sicklerville/Hammonton) was tabbed NJAC Field Athlete of the Week for men's indoor track & field while fellow freshman
Emma Conroy (Matawan/Matawan) was as NJAC Rookie of the Week for women's indoor track & field.
Campbell, the reigning NJAC Player of the Year, averaged 20.5 points per game as Stockton swept both contests last week. The junior shot 52.2 percent from the field (12-23) and 86.7 percent at the free throw line (13-15).
Campbell also led the Ospreys with nine steals (4.5 spg) and averaged 4.5 rebounds per game. He scored 27 points and swiped five steals against Ramapo on Saturday to top his week. Campbell was selected NJAC Player of the Week for the third time in his career.
Conroy won the 400-meter run at the TCNJ Winter Open, her first college meet, with a time of 1:01.42. She bested 18 other runners to capture the event. Conroy also ran a leg for the Stockton 4x400 relay team that finished third out of 10 teams in a time of 4:12.34
Wright also competed in two events at the TCNJ Winter Open, winning the long jump over 20 competitors with a distance of 6.96 meters that qualified him for the Atlantic Region Championships. He also tied for sixth in the high jump by clearing a top height of 1.76 meters
Stockton Men's Basketball will face Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday night and host William Paterson this Saturday, both at home. Stockton Track & Field will compete in the Bow Tie Invitational at Ursinus College on Friday.
