Stockton Dumped by TCNJ 92-77

Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (16-4, 11-3 NJAC) was unable to slow down The College of New Jersey (8-9, 5-7 NJAC) as the Lions shot 15-34 (44.1%) from three-point range and topped the Ospreys 92-77. Stockton had won five straight before the setback.

DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) led three Ospreys in double digits with 26 points, his third-highest total of the season and 10th time with at least 20 markers in a game. Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) played all 40 minutes and contributed 13 points.

Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) totaled 11 points, six assists, which tied for game-high honors, and five rebounds. Jonathan Azoroh (Ewing/Ewing), playing in his hometown, finished with nine points and a team-high six boards.

Each team fired 34 three-point tries, with TCNJ outshooting Stockton 15-7 from behind the arc. The Ospreys hit just 20.6% from three-point land, their second-lowest percentage of the season.

Stockton never led in the contest. The Ospreys struggled early and fell behind 26-8 in the opening seven minutes. They nearly came all the way back, using a 26-9 run of their own to get within one at 35-34. Campbell scored six points during the rally and Milo De Los Santos (Hopewell Valley/Hopewell Valley) hit two treys for six points.

TCNJ stayed in front by scoring the last four counters of the half for a 39-34 count at the break. The Lions kept the momentum by netting the first seven points of the second stanza to boost the margin to 12 at 46-34.

The Ospreys later pulled within five twice on three-pointers by Campbell, with the second coming at the 6:12 mark to make it 76-71. A 10-4 spurt by TCNJ over the next four minutes sealed the outcome and Stockton's five-game winning streak came to an end, 92-77.

TCNJ's Anthony DiCaro shot 7-10 from three-point range and scored a game-high 27 points to go with a game-high 11 rebounds. Jim Clemente poured in 18 points and snatched 10 caroms for the Lions.

Stockton's next three games will be at home, beginning on Saturday when the Ospreys host William Paterson at 3 p.m.
