Stockton Eliminated from NJAC Tournament

Glassboro, NJ – Stockton University (11-15) saw their season come to a close with an 87-54 defeat against Rowan University (17-8) on Tuesday night in the NJAC Tournament quarterfinals. Freshman Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) tied for game-high honors with 27 points, one off her season high, to lead the Ospreys.

The Ospreys stayed close in a high scoring first period, trailing the Profs by just 24-21 after 10 minutes of play. LaRosa scored nine of her markers, including a pair of three pointers in the last 56 seconds to draw Stockton within three points.

Rowan took control of the contest in the second frame, outscoring Stockton 23-11 in the period. A 12-2 run to start the period gave the home team a 36-23 lead with 6:03 left in the half. Four points by LaRosa and two more by Grace Sacco (Ocean City/Ocean City) stemmed the tide, but eight straight points by the Profs pushed the margin to 44-32. Rowan closed out the half leading 47-32.

The Ospreys tried to fight back in the second half, but a closing 23-8 fourth frame sent the Profs to the 87-54 victory, to advance in the NJAC Tournament.

LaRosa hit eight shots from the field, including four from beyond the arc in her 27-point effort. Adriyana Jennings (Camden/Winslow Twp.) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to go with seven markers. Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) also tallied seven points and dished a team best five assists.

Rowan was led by Nicole Mallard with 27 points, including 4-5 from three-point land. Grace Marshall added 13, with a game-high six assists. Eliana Santana and Dakota Adams scored 11 and 10 points respectively, with Adams also pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.
