Madison, N.J. – Stockton University (0-1) began the 2022 season with a 13-4 setback in the opener at FDU-Florham (1-0).
Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) led the Ospreys with two goals and reached the 100-point mark for her career.
Pascrell also topped Stockton with four ground balls.
Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) contributed a goal and as assist while transfer
Mary Meduri (Brigantine/OLMA) scored a goal in her Stockton debut.
Pascrell opened the scoring with an assist by Yannacone with 5:21 gone in the first quarter. With the tally, she became the third player in the program's nine-year history to reach 100 career points. Meduri followed later with an unassisted tally and the Ospreys led 2-0.
FDU-Florham got on the board with 37 seconds left in the opening quarter and then took control of the game with five straight goals in the second quarter to surge ahead 6-2 before halftime. The Devils potted seven markers in the third quarter to bring their scoring run to 13 straight tallies for a 13-2 count.
Stockton outshot FDU Florham 11-4 in the fourth quarter and netted the only two goals of the period. Pascrell scored her second of the game with an assist by
Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) and Yannacone found the net with an assist by
Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills).
Neither team scored over the final 10 minutes and the Ospreys fell 13-4. Stockton goalkeeper
Jordan Hawkes (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) finished with seven saves in the game.
Kylee Garcia paced FDU-Florham with game highs of four goals and three assists for seven points. Katie Walsh scored three times for the Devils and goalkeeper Jamie Kubach earned the win with 12 saves.
Stockton's next game will be against Bridgewater College and will be played at the USA Lacrosse Center in Sparks, Maryland on March 3 at 5 p.m.
