Leesburg, Fla. – Stockton University (7-5) split the last two games of its spring break trip to Florida. The Ospreys edged Bowdoin College 10-8 but the fell to Utica College 8-5.
Against Bowdoin,
Vanessa Tancini (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) went 3-3 with a run, RBI, walk and a stolen base.
Brianna Segnello (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive) was 2-3 with two runs, a double and a walk.
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) contributed two hits, three runs and three RBI.
Lilly James (Roseland/West Essex) blasted a two-run homer.
Stockton scored four runs in the second inning and five in the fourth for a 9-2 lead. Bowdoin tried to rally with six runs in the last three frames but the Ospreys held on for the 10-8 win.
Against Utica, Segnello was 3-4 with a double and Tancini went 2-3 with two stolen bases.
Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/CH West) also rapped two hits, including a double.
Utica jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings. The Ospreys later trailed 8-2 entering the bottom of the seventh. A triple by James and doubles from Posten and Segnello resulted in three runs, but the comeback stalled and Stockton fell 8-5.
The Ospreys will return from the Sunshine State this weekend and play their home opener on Tuesday, hosting Neumann University in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
