Stockton Dropped by Cabrini

Radnor, PA. – Stockton University (4-4) could not overcome a big second quarter by Cabrini (3-5) and dropped a 21-12 match on Tuesday night. Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.), Mary Meduri (Brigantine/Our Lady of Mercy) and Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) scored three goals each to lead the Ospreys.
 
Stockton started quicky in the first period on goals by Shultz, Meduri and Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills) for a 3-0 lead. The Cavaliers broke through with 11 seconds left in the period to slice the margin to 3-1.
 
Cabrini added one goal to start the second period, then Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) made it 4-2. Stockton held a slim 5-4 advantage on a Nikki Owen (Brick/Brick Memorial) tally, before the onslaught of scores by the home team began.
 
The Cavaliers potted the next four goals, with three coming in a span of 55 seconds to take control of the game at 8-5. Shultz scored to offset another Cabrini score to set the halftime score at 9-6 in favor of the home team.
 
The Cavaliers outscored Stockton 4-3 in the third period to stretch the margin to 13-9 after three frames. Goals by Shultz and a pair by Pascrell, kept Stockton within striking distance.
 
Once again Cabrini tallied in a short space of time hitting the net for the first three markers of the final period in a span of 1:32 to advance the margin to 16-9. Toal, from Pascrell and Meduri on a helper from Shultz, kept Stockton close at 16-11 with 7:31 remaining.
 
The Cavaliers again posted two more quick scores 25 seconds apart to push the lead back to seven goals at 18-11 at the 6:28 mark. Meduri added her third of the night, but the home squad answered that with the final three markers of the night to set the final score at 21-12 in favor of Cabrini.
 
Shultz added two assists for a five-point night, while Pascrell dished one helper to go with her hat trick for four points. Kylie Evans (Marlton/Cherokee) had a game-high three caused turnovers with Meghan Pellegrino (Somers Point/Mainland) scooping five ground balls to lead all players.
 
Goalkeeper Jordan Hawkes (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) made a career-high 12 saves in the game.
 
Olivia Little topped all players with six goals and three assists for nine points for Cabrini. Teammate Dana Carlson also hit the next six times with goalkeeper Sama Hamalak making eight saves in the victory.
 
Stockton will be off until next Wednesday April 6, when the Ospreys will travel to Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA. Game time is scheduled for 5 pm.
