Stockton Uses Balanced Scoring to Down Colorado College 16-9

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-4) scored nine times in the middle frames and captured a 16-9 win over Colorado College (7-8) on Sunday afternoon. Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) and Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) led six Ospreys tallying goals with four goals each.
 
The Tigers, playing their second straight game on an east coast trip, tallied twice to offset a goal by Mary Meduri (Brigantine/Our Lady of Mercy) for a 2-1 lead after one period. Stockton took control of the game in the second frame, outscoring the visitors 4-1 to take a 5-3 lead into the break.
 
Toal, Yannacone, Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.), and Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) hit the net in the quarter for the Ospreys against one score for the Tigers.
 
Yannacone, Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills) and Toal tallied in the first six and half minutes of the third period to stretch the margin to 8-3. Bremer's marker was a short-handed goal on an assist by Shultz. The teams traded a pair of goals each to finish the third quarter with Stockton leading 10-5.
 
The squads totaled 10 goals in the final period, with the Tigers closing to 13-9 with 8:03 remaining in the game. But Stockton tallied the final three goals by Bremer, Yannacone and Shultz to secure the 16-9 victory.
 
Pascrell added four draw controls and five ground balls to her four-point (3 goals, 1 assist) day. Toal also scooped five ground balls with Lilly Alessandro (Abington, PA/Abington) leading all players with three caused turnovers and scooped five ground balls.
 
Goalkeeper Jordan Hawkes (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) made eight saves in the game, earning her sixth win of the season.
 
Zoe Tomlinson scored three goals for Colorado College with teammate Devin Ortman leading all players with six draw controls. Goalkeeper Natalie Slade made 14 saves and topped the squad with three ground balls.
 
Stockton will be back in action for NJAC play on Tuesday when they will travel to Camden, NJ to face Rutgers-Camden. Game time is set for 4 pm.
