Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (11-4) was eliminated from the NJAC Tournament with a 5-0 setback against New Jersey City (8-6) in the semifinal round. The Ospreys were the No. 3 seed and the Gothic Knights were the No. 2 seed.
Stockton dropped all three doubles matches, with NJAC all-conference selections
Sarb Devi (Galloway/Absegami) and
Lily Muir (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) nearly earning a team point but falling 8-6 in the closest contest.
After NJCU clinched the outcome by winning the first two singles matches to be completed, play was halted with the final score set at 5-0.
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) was leading 6-3, 4-1 when the match was stopped.
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain) won her first set 6-3 but trailed 4-0 in the second set.
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) won her first set 6-4 and was tied 4-4 in the second set.
Stockton finished the 2021-22 season with a 11-4 overall record for the program's highest win total since 2013-14. Nunez led the Ospreys with 14 singles wins (14-1 record) followed by
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) at 13-4 and freshman Pasquale at 12-2.
