Cherry Hill, N.J. – Stockton University rowed in three events on the first day of the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River. The Ospreys' day was highlighted by the performance of the varsity eight, which advanced to tomorrow's grand final.

Jordan Barikian (Cape May/Lower Cape May) and
Emily Culmone (Absecon/Ocean City) rowed in the varsity eight.
The unit was led by coxswain
Lorelei Hendricks (Burlington/Doane Academy). Stockton earned a spot in the grand final by placing second in its heat with a time of 7:42.38. The Ospreys finished in front of Bryn Mawr B (8:32.04) and Susquehanna (8:40.31) and trailed only Ithaca (7:24.09). Stockton's time was third out of the eight teams that rowed in the two heats of the varsity eight.
The women's varsity four of
Alexandra Kazan (Vineland/OLMA),
Allison Reed (Cherry Hill/CH East),
Lauren Oleksiak (Brigantine/Holy Spirit) and
Katie Kurtz (Galloway/Cedar Creek) plus coxswain
Kelley Mason (Manhattan/St. Vincent Ferrer) finished third in their heat of four with a time of 9:48.64.
The frosh/novice four of Kazan, Kurtz,
Kimberly Canelas (Galloway/ACIT) and
Allison Cook (Mickleton/Kingsway) with coxswain
Leilani Moreno (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) rowed 9:52.58 for fifth place out of six in their heat.
The Stockton varsity eight will compete in the Knecht Cup grand final tomorrow at noon.
