Philadelphia, Pa. – Stockton University rowed in two races on the first day of the famous Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in North America. Stockton's day was highlighted by the performance of the varsity eight, which advanced to tomorrow's grand final.
Led by coxswain
Lorelei Hendricks (Burlington/Doane Academy), the Osprey eight featured a trio of All-Mid Atlantic Rowing Conference selections in
Emily Culmone (Absecon/Ocean City),
Carrie Alpin (North Hanover/Northern Burlington) and
Nicole Iatarola (Sewell/Washington Twp.).
Madelynn Schina (Somerdale/Highland),
Emily Latshaw (Toms River/TR South),
Amber Hartzell (Merchantville/Haddon Hts.),
Izabelle DelRoss (Egg Harbor City/Cedar Creek) and
Alexandra Kazan (Vineland/OLMA) rounded out the varsity eight.
Stockton posted a time of 7:03.974 to finish second in its heat of four and earn a spot in the grand final. The Ospreys' time was the third-fastest out of eight boats overall in two heats in the Women's Varsity Heavyweight Eight (Division III) event.
The Ospreys will be trying to medal in the varsity eight at the Dad Vail Regatta for the second straight year when they row against Simmons, Washington College and Bryn Mawr in the grand final of the Women's Varsity Heavyweight Eight (Division III) tomorrow at 4:20 p.m. Stockton earned gold medals by winning the varsity eight last year.

Kimberly Canelas (Galloway/ACIT) rowed in the Women's Varsity Heavyweight Four (Division II & III), with
Kelley Mason (Manhattan, N.Y./St. Vincent Ferrer) serving as the coxswain.
Stockton finished in 8:36.970 for fifth place in its heat of the varsity four.
