The Stockton volleyball team will have a different look this season with just one senior and three juniors among the 16 players on the roster. In her 17th year, head coach
Allison Walker will lead a squad that will be on the younger side, with six freshmen and six sophomores.
Â
The Stockton volleyball program enters its 48th intercollegiate season five victories shy of 900 all-time while Walker needs eight wins to reach the 400-win mark for her career.
Â
The Ospreys will be formidable up front, led by junior
Emma Capriglione. Last season, Capriglione was selected to the NJAC Second Team after she smacked 307 kills, served 30 aces and scooped 170 digs. Capriglione posted four double-doubles in kills and digs, highlighted by 25 digs and 15 kills against Cabrini.
Â
Capriglione be joined at the net by sophomore middle hitters
Teleyah Witherspoon and
Jaylah Rolle, who garnered valuable experience last season. Witherspoon, an NJAC Rookie of the Week once in 2021, finished seventh in the NJAC in blocks (0.74 bps) and added 150 kills and a .208 hitting percentage. Rolle tallied 76 attempts (0.68 bps) with 106 kills and 15 aces.
Â
The lone senior on the squad is
Haley Green who saw action in just 22 sets after returning from injury last year, but made her presence known with 54 kills (2.45 kps). Green hopes to regain the form that made her an NJAC First Team selection during the abbreviated Spring 2021 slate.
Â
Sophomores
Krista Blassman and
Megan Sears add to the depth at the net. Blassman saw action in 18 sets as a rookie while Sears is a newcomer to the team. A pair of freshmen,
Kate Louer and
Camille De La Torre, are expected to be key newcomers up front.
Â
Aubrey Rentzel returns as the main setter after dishing 915 assists, the second-highest total in the NJAC last season. Rentzel also scoped 299 digs (2.45 dps) and served 44 aces, which was second on the team. She'll be joined by freshman
Regan Mendick who will split time with Rentzel at setter.
Â
Stockton has three returning defensive specialists in junior
Molly Eng and sophomores
Kathryn Zanvettor and
Olivia Bereza. Eng contributed 182 digs and 34 aces in 29 matches last year. Adding to the depth I the back row will be freshmen
Patria Moreno, who also can play setter, plus fellow rookies
Paige Anania and
Gianna Felipe.
