Stockton Downed by Gettysburg 3-1

 Aston, PA –Stockton University (5-4) finished the Neumann Knights Invitational on a down note, falling to Gettysburg College (11-1) by a 3-1 score on Saturday afternoon. The scores were 25-11, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-19. The match was the fifth in five days for the Ospreys, who won four of the five contests this week.
 
Freshmen Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) and Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) led the Ospreys with 12 and 10 kills respectively in the match.
 
Stockton fell behind quickly in the first set and never recovered. With the score knotted at 6-6, the Bullets ran off on a 19-5 run to capture the first set. Gettysburg held Stockton to just six kills in the frame.
 
The Ospreys rallied in the second set, taking it by a 25-19 score. The team had a balanced effort as Louer and Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) spiked three kills each, with Aubrey Rentzel (York, PA/Central York) serving three aces.
 
Stockton looked to take control of the third set, leading 12-9, but Gettysburg spurted out on an 8-3 run to retake the lead at 17-15. The Ospreys could not get any closer, with the Bullets winning 25-17. The final set saw Stockton jump out to a three-point lead but could not sustain the margin as Gettysburg took the match 25-19 in four sets.
 
In addition to their kills, Louer had a pair of aces and scooped eight digs, with De La Torre recording three blocks. Rentzel added 16 assists and a match-high five aces. Freshman Regan Mendick (Newark, DE/Red Lion Christian) paced the Ospreys with 18 assists, her fourth straight match in double digits.
 
Molly Eng (New Providence/New Providence) scooped 10 digs and dished seven assists while Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack) tied for match-high honors with six blocks.

Green was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Knights Invitational after totaling 35 kills, seven digs and four blocks over the weekend.
 
The Ospreys will begin NJAC play on Tuesday when Stockton will travel to Glassboro, NJ to face defending NJAC champion Rowan University. Match time is 7 pm.
