Union, N.J. – Stockton University (15-8, 5-0 NJAC) assumed sole possession of first place in the NJAC by sweeping Kean University (12-8, 4-1 NJAC) 3-0. The victory was Stockton's fourth in a row as they remained unbeaten in conference play.
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) led the Ospreys with a match-high 10 kills.
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) spiked nine kills with no hitting errors in 15 attacks for a lofty .600 hitting percentage.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished a team-high 17 assists and served a match-high four aces.
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) contributed 13 assists, six digs and two aces.
Freshmen
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) and
Lauren Sommer (York, Pa./Central York) led the defensive effort with 16 and 12 digs respectively.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) tallied three kills during a 14-1 run that gave the Ospreys a commanding 17-7 lead on the way to a 25-17 win in the first set. Stockton trailed 24-20 in the second but incredibly fought off four set points by scoring six in a row, two on kills by Palmer, to prevail 26-24.
In the third set, Sommer served two aces during a five-point burst that resulted in a 17-9 lead, and the Ospreys stayed in front to close out the victory 25-16.
Ashley Smith paced Kean with eight kills, Aspen O'Brien dished 20 assists and Madeline Dohogne recorded 17 digs.
Stockton begins a four-match homestand by hosting Rutgers-Newark on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
