Stockton Falls to #17 Rowan in NJAC Tournament

Glassboro, N.J. – Stockton University (15-5) was eliminated from the NJAC Tournament with a 6-0 setback to 17th-ranked Rowan University (10-7) in the semifinal round. The Profs were the No. 1 seed for the NJAC tourney and Stockton was the No. 4 seed.

Freshman goaltender Hannah Ayari-Dias (North Caldwell/West Essex) faced 20 shots on goal in 55:39 and made a career-high 15 saves, nearly double her former career best of eight stops. Two of Rowan's goals came on penalty strokes.

The game was scoreless for 22 minutes before the Ospreys surrendered three goals in the final eight minutes of the first half. Rowan added two more markers in the third quarter and one in the fourth period.

Kirsten Bailey (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) registered two of Stockton's three shots on goal and freshman back Kaelin Drey (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) made her first career defensive save.

Senior goalie Kylie Mitchell (Shamong/Seneca) relieved Ayari-Dias for the last 4:21 to cap a career in which she played 1,990 minutes for the Ospreys.

Vanessa DiDonato scored five consecutive Rowan goals after Julia Cavicchio netted the first one.

The outcome did little to diminish one of the best seasons in the program's 21-year history. Stockton tied the school record of 15 victories that was set in 2018, defeated The College of New Jersey for the first time since 2003 and achieved their highest NCAA regional ranking ever, fourth in Region IV this week.
