Stockton Ends Regular Season with Split

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (20-10) finished the regular season by splitting a tri-match on its home court. The Ospreys swept Neumann University (17-10) 3-0 but then fell to Eastern University (25-3) 3-0. The victory over the Knights gave Stockton 20 wins for the 14th time in the last 15 full seasons.
 
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) led the Ospreys over Neumann with a match-high 10 kills and a .471 hitting percentage. Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) chipped in with eight kills and a .353 hitting percentage.
 
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) tallied 16 assists, nine digs and three aces. Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished 11 assists while McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) contributed a team-high 10 digs plus a career-high eight assists.
 
Stockton controlled the first set 25-14 behind four kills apiece from Wilson and Palmer as well as .400 team hitting percentage. Wilson smacked five more kills in a dominant 25-13 second set. Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) paced the Ospreys with three kills as they closed out the win 25-18.
 
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) topped Stockton with nine kills while Wilson and Palmer added five apiece versus Eastern. Ritchie led the squad with 12 digs while Rentzel and Mendick handed out 11 assists apiece.
 
The first set was close early, with seven ties and five lead changes before the Eagles pulled away and downed Stockton 25-15. The second frame was similar, with four ties and three lead changes before the Ospreys faltered 25-16. A 25-17 third set sealed the outcome as Stockton fell.
 
Stockton is the No. 1 seed for this week's NJAC Tournament. The Ospreys will host a semifinal match on Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. against the winner of Tuesday's first round contest between No. 4 seed William Paterson and No. 5 seed Rowan University.
