Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-7) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end, as Arcadia University (10-6) held the Ospreys to just five hits in a 9-0 defeat on Tuesday afternoon. Â
Kevin Novobilsky (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) rapped two of the five safeties to lead Stockton on the day.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth when the Knights plated their first marker of the day for a 1-0 lead. The visitors broke the contest open the following two frames with four runs in each of the innings for a commanding 9-0 advantage, that would end up being the final score.
Stockton's best opportunity came in the bottom of the third inning, when
Max Kaplan (Wall/Wall) and Novobilsky singled with two away, but the rally ended there.
Freshman
Zack McCabe (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) started on the hill and tossed the first 5.2 innings in taking the loss for the Ospreys.
Andrew Luongo (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) and
Phil Santa Maria (Absecon/ACIT) tossed the final 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits between them.
For Arcadia, Alex Madera and Emilio Pallante banged out four hits each in the 16 hit attack fort the Knights. Madera drove in four runs as well. Mitch Whitney, the second of the six hurlers, garnered his first win of the year in relief.
Stockton will have a quick turnaround as the Ospreys will face Washington College (MD) tomorrow at home, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:30 pm.
