Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (7-2, 0-1 NJAC) was edged 5-4 by New Jersey City (4-3, 1-0) in the first New Jersey Athletic Conference match of the season for both teams. The Ospreys held a 2-1 lead after doubles but they were overtaken as NJCU took four of six in singles play.
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) and
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles while
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) and
Carlee Cristella (Mantua/Clearview) prevailed 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Pasquale earned another victory by downing her opponent 6-4, 2-6, 10-3 in a super-tiebreaker at No.3 singles.
Kierstyn Fenimore (Tabernacle/Seneca) rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 6 singles.
Stockton's next match will be against Drew University at home on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
