Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (18-16, 10-6 NJAC) played its last home doubleheader of the regular season and split with Rutgers-Camden (10-22, 7-9). The Ospreys blanked the Scarlet Raptors 2-0 in the first game but stumbled with a 4-3 defeat in the second game.
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) pitched her second consecutive shutout, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out seven batters. Tramp extended her scoreless streak to 15 innings.
Offensively,
Jenna Patterson (Mullica Hill/Clearview) had two hits of Stockton's four hits, including a double.
Michaela Luyber (Bordentown/Bordentown) went 1-2 with a double, RBI, run and a hit by pitch.
Both Stockton runs came in the second inning. Patterson led off with a single and later scored on Luyber's RBI double. Luyber then scored on a throwing error to make it 2-0. Tramp was in control throughout the game, and she did not allow a runner beyond second base.
Vanessa Tancini (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) and
Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/CH West) each had two hits and a run while
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) also rapped two hits in the nightcap.
Jayden Hunter led off the game with a home run for Rutgers-Camden but
Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) followed a double by Posten with a two-run blast in the second inning to give Stockton a 2-1 edge. The homer was Sears' third of the season.
Rutgers-Camden tied the game with a run in the top of the third and scored twice on three singles and two wild pitches in the top of the sixth.
Stevie Unger (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) then came out of the bullpen and hurled two scoreless innings to give the Ospreys a chance to rally.
Tancini led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and later scored on a fielder's choice to get Stockton within 4-3. The Ospreys had the tying run on first base with one out but they were unable to complete the comeback.
Rutgers-Camden pitcher Lindsey Rodzon scattered seven hits and fanned five in the game. Hunter was 3-3 with a double, solo homer and two runs scored for the Scarlet Raptors.
Stockton will play a non-conference doubleheader at Arcadia University on Thursday at 4 p.m.
