Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (12-5) was eliminated from the NJAC Tournament with a 5-2 defeat to New Jersey City (11-5) in the semifinal round. The Ospreys were the No. 3 seed and the Gothic Knights were the No. 2 seed.
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) played a key role in both Stockton team points. Bowman and freshman
Carlee Cristella (Mantua/Clearview) rolled to an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles. Bowman also recorded a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 singles.
NJCU took two doubles matches and three in singles to get to the requisite five wins. The outcome was clinched with two matches still in progress, and those two were halted per postseason rules.
Stockton's 12 victories this year tied the third highest total in the program's 22-season history and were the most since 2012-13.
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) and
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Absegami) tied for the team lead with 13 singles wins apiece. Cristella topped the squad with 12 doubles wins.
