Pennsauken, N.J. – Stockton University added to its impressive semester-long medal haul in the varsity eight with gold at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta. The Ospreys won the Dad Vail gold in the Division III varsity eight for the second time in the last three years.
One day after cruising to victory in their heat by 19 seconds, Stockton took the gold medal with another dominant performance, crossing the finish line with a time of 7:08.807 that was 15 seconds in front of the field, which included six teams.
The triumph concluded an incredible spring for the varsity eight in which the crew went undefeated, winning at all six regattas highlighted by gold medals at the Dad Vail, MARC Championships and Knecht Cup plus victories at the Manhattan College Invitational, Battle at Brigantine and Upper Schuylkill Challenge.

Lorelei Hendricks (Burlington/Doane Academy) was the coxswain who directed Stockton to the win. In his first year as Stockton's head coach,
Chris O'Brien built a varsity eight that won all eight races in which it rowed, with a boat half-full of freshmen (Baldwin, Martinelli, Timm, Bates) to go with three juniors (Latshaw, Hartzell, Schina) and one senior (DelRoss).
In addition, the Osprey second varsity eight grabbed silver at the Dad Vail, which is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States. Usually held in Philadelphia, the Dad Vail Regatta took place on the Cooper River this weekend due to dredging on the Schuylkill River.
The second varsity eight was one of three teams that competed in the 3V8 grand final, earning silver medals as the runner-up with a time of 7:59.114 that trailed Temple but was 20 seconds ahead of Jefferson.
Kelley Mason (Manhattan, N.Y./St. Vincent Ferrer) was the coxswain.

Stockton also placed third in the petite final of the women's frosh/novice four. The Ospreys finished in 8:34.933 and trailed only Bryant and Rollins in the six-team race.
