Union, N.J. – Stockton University (22-20) was eliminated from the NJAC Tournament with a 17-0 defeat to Kean University (24-16-1) that brought and end to Stockton's best season in the past decade. The Ospreys were the No. 6 seed and Kean was the No. 2 seed.
Cooper Fiore (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) singled and walked, reaching base twice in the game.
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) rapped a single as well.
The Ospreys were within 1-0 through four innings, with Kean scoring in the second frame. Stockton yielded four runs in the fifth inning and the game got away from the Ospreys in the last three stanzas as they were knocked out of the NJAC Tournament.
Michael Antonucci (Manasquan/Manasquan),
Jordan Nitti (Hamilton/Steinert) and
Luke Fabrizzi (Old Bridge/St. John Vianney) each walked once but Stockton was unable to mount an attack against Kean pitcher Jason Gilman who tossed eight scoreless innings.
Despite the outcome, Stockton's season was a success as the Ospreys won 22 games, just one shy of the school record, and qualified for the NJAC Tournament for the first time since 2013 with a young roster that included 14 freshmen and 13 sophomores.
