Stockton Athletics Announces 2023 Hall of Fame Class

Galloway, N.J. - Stockton University has selected one team and three individuals to comprise the 2023 class of the Stockton Athletics Hall of Fame. The group features the first postseason champion in school history and three All-Americans including a two-time national champion.
 
The 2023 honorees are the 1985 Softball team, Nick Bologno (men's lacrosse), Jared Lewis (track & field) and Sasha Williams (women's basketball).
 
The Stockton Athletics Hall of Fame banquet will be held on October 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the Stockton Campus Center Event Room as part of the University Weekend festivities. Stockton Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023:
The 1985 Softball Team won Stockton's first postseason championship of any kind with their victory in the 1985 ECAC Tournament. Under the direction of head coach Dot Hirshfeld, the team finished 21-9-1 and still holds the school record for team ERA in a season (0.80).
 
Pitcher Gayle Varady holds the school record for ERA in a season (0.74) and set a record for wins in a season (12) that stood until 2013. Abby Roessler set the school record for triples in a season (5) that stood until 2008.
 
Nick Bologno (2012-15) was a 2015 USILA All-American Honorable Mention and Skyline Conference Player of the Year. Bologno also was a two-time Skyline Conference First Team (2013, 2015) and two-time Skyline Conference Second Team (2012, 2014) selection. He finished his career as Stockton's points leader (288), and that mark stood for seven years.
 
In his career, he ranks third in assists (136) and points (288), while placing fourth in goals with 152. In a single season in Stockton history, Bologno is third in assists (53, 2015), tied for seventh (88, 2015) and 10th in points (79, 2013) and ninth in goals (51, 2013).
 
Jared Lewis (2014-18) was a two-time NCAA national champion, winning the indoor triple jump in 2017 and 2018. Competing in indoor and outdoor track & field, Lewis was a nine-time All-American in the long jump and triple jump, the most All-American honors by any student-athlete in Stockton history.
 
He was a seven-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree and an 11-time NJAC champion. Lewis amassed 16 NJAC All-Conference selections (11 First Team, 2 Second Team, 3 Honorable Mention), and he was a two-time NJAC Most Outstanding Male Athlete and three-time NJAC Outstanding Male Field Athlete.
 
Lewis was selected NJAC Male Athlete of the Year in 2016 and CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team in 2018 as well as being a three-time Stockton Male Athlete of the Year.
 
Sasha Williams (2014-18) was a 2018 WBCA All-America Honorable Mention (one of two in the program's history) and 2018 D3hoops.com All-America Honorable Mention player. She was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Year four times, the only player in NJAC history to achieve that honor.
 
Williams was a three-time NJAC First Team (2016-18), 2015 NJAC Honorable Mention and three-time D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region (2018 First Team, 2016-17 Second Team) selection. She ranks second in NCAA DIII history in blocked shots (547) and fourth in blocked shot average per game.
 
Williams holds the school records for rebounds (1,212) and blocks (547) in a career and in a season (349 rebounds, 175 blocked shots). She is the only basketball player in Stockton history, male or female, with over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, and was the 2018 Stockton Female Athlete of the Year.
 
In addition to school records for career rebounds and blocked shots, Williams ranks fourth in Stockton history in scoring (1,489), sixth in assists (241) and 10th in steals (173).
